Original Item: Only One Available. The German Zeltbahn or Army Tent Quarter was a multi-purpose piece of German army regulation equipment that was issued to Wehrmacht soldiers during WWII. This piece of camouflaged material could be combined with three other to make a proper tent, or other quantities to construct shelters of various sizes, it was also used for camouflage, as a poncho or even a stretcher. This service used example comes in the very attractive reversible German Army Splinter pattern, with most of the original aluminum buttons still present, as well as the three small rope ties.

The Zeltbahn 31 was developed in 1931 and found its origin in the square Reichswehr tent. It was made of a water repellent material called Makostoff and is imprinted with a camouflage pattern which is also known as Army Splinter Pattern (Heeres Splitter Muster 31), another phrase used was: Buntfarbenaufdruck (colorful print).

This example definitely shows some  wear from service, and it is possible that it saw used post war, as these were used by both the West and East German forces post war. Most of the buttons are still present, however they do show oxidation, and there is other evidence of long service, such as fading, small tears, repairs, staining, and stitch degradation. It also looks like the bottom edge may have had buttons installed on it, now removed, with just the stitching remaining.

There is a faded marking on one corner that looks to be an RBNr, but it is too degraded to read at all. This is definitely an original WWII example, and it is complete aside from missing buttons. Ready to display!
