Title: Mid Century Modern Walnut Tall Boy Five Drawer Dresser by Kipp Stewart for Drexel Declaration, USA, c. 1960s

About: Introducing a striking 5-drawer tall chest dresser from the iconic Drexel Declaration collection, and designed by influential Kipp Stewart in the 1960s. This quintessentially American Mid-Century Modern piece showcases the exceptional craftsmanship and timeless design that made the Declaration line one of the most revered in American furniture history. The rich walnut wood is graced with beautiful grain patterns, exuding warmth and elegance. Original white porcelain pulls with sleek, clean lines perfectly complement the minimalist aesthetic.

Kipp Stewart, who recently passed in 2022, is an American Icon who's work as a furniture designer, artist and architect has been widely respected and venerated throughout the US and abroad. After working with the renowned industrial designers Charles and Bernice “Ray” Eames, Stewart went on to design furniture of a mid-century modern aesthetic for Drexel Heritage out of North Carolina, Directional Furniture through the Modernage Company in New York, and Summit Furniture of Monterey.

The Drexel Furniture Co. began over a hundred years ago in Hickory, North Carolina with a single product and a simple vision. The product was a made-to-order dining chair. In the decades since, their product range has evolved into an assortment of timeless designs, drawn from significant periods and places, and from the talents of some of the world's most respected designers such as the aforementioned Kipp Stewart. Drexel is still producing pieces to this day with much reverence given to their craftsmanship and use of natural materials.

With five spacious drawers, including two with removable dividers behind a fold-down door, this dresser offers both practical storage and a bold statement piece for any room. The high stance and refined design elements make it an enduring classic, ideal for lovers of Mid-Century Modern and organic modern styles. Make it yours today!

Find Out Who Was the Legal Secretary
Format: Hardcover
I ordered this book after watching Nuremberg with Michael Shannon and Russell Crowe because I wanted to find out who was the woman accompanying Justice Jackson to Germany. Yes, that was not his wife, it was his legal secretary, Elsie Douglas. This book is the only source I could find that goes into any detail about their relationship. What it provides is nowhere near salacious, because it is evident that Jackson took his secrets to the grave. What details it does provide about the evident love triangle that existed in Jackson's life for many years is quite sufficient to explain the events of Nuremberg.

Well written. Factual sloppiness.
Format: Hardcover
Good insight into Jackson’s approach to the law. Thoroughly researched. Well written. However, Professor White made two egregious factual errors, both of which are an indication of sloppiness on his part, as well as that of his editors and peer reviewers. First, he refers to the World War 2 Chief of Naval Operations as the Secretary of the Navy. Second he states that Los Alamos National Laboratory is in California.

Judging Jackson
Format: Hardcover
Readers interested in FDR's era, the post-war Nuremberg Trial, and/or such important U.S. Supreme Court events as the Rosenberg spy case and Brown v. Board of Education will enjoy this well-researched book. Illuminating insights as to the characters of his fellow members of the High Court, especially Justices Black and Douglas, are also present. Of special interest in today's world is Justice Jackson's thinking on the limits of Executive Power in terms of war powers and foreign relations. I do think non-lawyers will be less interested when the author, a legal scholar, sometime goes into depth exploring aspects of Justice Jackson's thoughts on opaque technical areas, such as diversity jurisdiction under the constitution. And, I fail to see the need to spend much time on Justice Black's two children, as is done in chapter two "Family Matters." Why do I need to know that his daughter was a mediocre student in college or details about her early love life? Professor White clearly admires Robert H. Jackson as a fine advocate, brilliant writer, and independent judge, while noting some of his flaws. All in all, a good biography of an important American.
